Connecting trusted community support for health
Devon & Cornwall Police
"Devon and Cornwall Police are committed to Building safer communities together This means that we will do everything we can to keep people safe and to make sure that they feel as safe as possible. To do this, it is important that as well as working on our own we also work with our partners (such as local authorities) to help deliver the services that matter to local people."
Our link with Devon and Cornwall Police is with Assistant Chief Constable Sharon Taylor who is currently responsible for Local Policing and Partnerships (LPP). She is responsible for all Neighbourhood Beat Managers, Neighbourhood Team Leaders, Local Policing Support Teams, Police Community Support Officers, all Local Policing Area Commanders, LPP Geographic Chief Superintendents, Specials and Volunteers as well as the Local Policing Department.
Devon & Somerset Fire and Rescue
Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue Service is the largest non-metropolitan fire and rescue service in the UK. Our vision is to make Devon and Somerset (including Torbay and Plymouth) a safer place to live, work and visit. Our role and mission is to act to protect and save – to prevent emergencies, create safer communities and respond, when you need us, in order to save life.
You’ll know that the fire and rescue service puts out fires, rescues people from road traffic accidents and other emergencies such as flooding, other water incidents and working at height. However, you may not know that we work hard to prevent emergencies occurring. We are involved in lots of preventative activities:
- Our Home Safety Checks are open to everyone and we will visit those that need us the most.
- We work with other agencies to influence young drivers to try and prevent people being killed or injured on our roads.
- We engage with young people in diversionary activities to reduce anti-social behaviour and crime.
We are reducing the number of operational incidents we attend though our prevention work and this will continue to be a priority, but when our services are needed, you can be assured that we aim to deliver the very best service we can to make you safe wherever you are in Devon and Somerset.
Devon Communities Together
We are an independent charity with over 50 years’ experience of community development work. Founded in 1961 we have accumulated a wealth of experience in helping communities resolve and progress the matters that are important to them.
Devon Communities Together is constantly evolving, keeping pace with the ever changing social, cultural and economic needs of communities, yet our foundation is in those basic needs that never change.
We have the flexibility to support our vision of dynamic communities shaping their own futures.
Devon Communities Together is the new operating name for The Community Council of Devon
